Project: Wongan Hills Dairy Shed installation
At Kaituna Valley in Banks Peninsula, the Wongan Hills Dairy Shed represents a significant investment in high-efficiency dairy production.
With fixed deadlines driven by calving, the project required speed, coordination and adaptability from day one.
Level Electrical Ashburton delivered the complete electrical solution for the 60-bale rotary facility, supporting daily operations, productivity and future growth.
A large-scale rural installation
This project involved delivering electrical infrastructure for a complex, high-output dairy facility designed to support 680 cows initially, increasing to 800 in the coming seasons.
The scale of the operation required careful planning and coordination to ensure all systems worked seamlessly together, from power distribution through to production monitoring.
Scope of work
Level Electrical Ashburton delivered a complete electrical solution across the site, including:
- Full electrical installation for a 60-bale rotary dairy shed
- Effluent system controls and installation
- Grain milling and feed distribution systems
- Power distribution to the barn and solar system
- Wireless data bridge and site-wide connectivity
- Production monitoring camera system
- Generator supply and installation
- Heat pumps for amenity areas
- Irrigation pump systems
Working through challenging site conditions
The project was impacted by seasonal weather, with high rainfall and clay-based ground conditions creating difficult site access and drainage challenges.
Despite this, the team maintained steady progress through strong coordination, regular site communication and proactive planning, ensuring alignment across all contractors and keeping the project on track.
