Local Impact Update: A message from Matt - GM, Level Group NZ

2 Matt Jen Message from Matt 1

Giving back, mucking in, and doing stuff for the good of our communities is in our DNA.

Local Impact is Level Group ANZ’s conference-adjacent initiative donated by Level Members and partners to give back to the community hosting our delegates from Australia and New Zealand.

This year, over 150 level delegates from Australia and New Zealand will attend our conference in Queenstown from 5 to 7 September. On Wednesday, 4 September, we’re donating our Local Impact tradie day for free.

Applications to be the 2024 Local Impact recipient closed on 31 May. We’ve had an excellent response to the initiative, and a raft of impressive and worthy submissions. Thank you to all who applied and for the much-needed mahi you do in the community.

With the guidance of Judges Brent & Megan Christie (Level Electrical Ashburton, Rolleston, Geraldine and Temuka), Jennifer Belmont, pictured (Founder & CEO Wakatipu Community Foundation), Local Impact 2024 Project Lead Jason Weeks (Level Electrical Morningside) and myself, we have systematically worked through the applications, carried out site visits, and agreed on the 2024 shortlist. It was a tough task. Read on to learn about the shortlisted community groups.

The next step is for our over 47 member businesses and 600-level tradespeople across Australia and New Zealand to vote. The recipient for the free Level Local Impact day, will be announced by the end of July.

If you’re a business carrying out a conference in any part of Aotearoa, we urge you to consider a conference-adjacent community initiative with your attendees, leaning into what the community needs and what resonates with your delegates. It’s not only good for the local community; it builds team camaraderie and well-being for all involved.

- Matt Davies, General Manager, Level Group NZ

"Selecting a shortlist was no easy feat! All applicants dedicate so much time, care, and passion to helping their communities - it’s a shame we couldn’t choose everyone
